5. 2011 13-1 (BCS Championship – L)
At the number 5 spot, we have the 2011 Tigers. LSU finished the year 13-1 with the only loss coming in the BCS Championship to to Alabama. This team featured Jarret Lee, Michael Ford, Spencer Ware, and Tyrann Mathieu. The Tigers finished the year ranked #2 in the final AP Poll.
4. 2007 12-2 (BCS Championship – W)
Coached by Les Miles, the 2007 team went on to win LSU’s second title. Matt Flynn and Jacob Hester led the offense, while Craig Steltz and Ali Highsmith commanded the defense. The Tigers defeated Ohio State 38-24 in the BCS Championship Game.
3. 2003 13-1 (Sugar Bowl – W)
The 2003 LSU team was led by Matt Mauck, Justin Vincent, and Michael Clayton. Their one loss came against Florida in week 6 as the Tigers fell 17-9. The Tigers ended the year with a win against Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl and they went on to win the BCS National Championship, but finish ranked #2 in the final AP Poll.
2. 1958 11-0 (Sugar Bowl -W)
At our number 2 spot, we have the 1958 team. The Tigers were coached by Paul Dietzel while Billy Cannon led the offense with 848 yards and 11 touchdowns. The defense was ferocious as they allowed only 4.8 points per game. LSU defeated Clemson in the Sugar Bowl 7-0 to finish the season undefeated.
1. 2019 15-0 (Peach Bowl – W, College Football Championship – W)
Number 1 is a no brainer. The 2019 team was arguably the most dominant college football team of all time. The Tigers averaged 48.4 points per game and Joe Burrow won the Heisman Award after throwing for 60 touchdowns and rushing for 5 touchdowns. LSU defeated Georgia in the SEC Championship Game, Oklahoma in the Peach Bowl, and Clemson in the College Football Championship.
